Remembering my fellow Polecat

Richard Maxwell Arann

Helicopter Pilot, CW2, US Army

Norfolk, Virginia

July 2, 1941 to June 24, 1969

On the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, panel 21W - line 5

Rick was an old-timer, 27 years old and on his second tour as a
helicopter pilot. He was a funny, friendly, guy and tried to teach
the newer pilots the important details that could keep them alive.

Rick was killed by a claymore mine that a US Soldier had placed on
the back of the barracks with the intent to kill the First Sergeant.

"To live in the hearts we leave behind
is never to have died. "
