A Note from The Virtual WallThe 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, was one of the units committed to the defense of the Special Forces camp at Kham Duc as it came under attack by two regiments of the NVA 2nd Division. Sergeant Richard Bowers is one of at least 39 Americans who died during the defeats at Ngok Tavak and Kham Duc. His remains were recovered when the base was recaptured in mid-1970, but the remains of 32 others have not been repatriated.
