25 Aug 2002 The photo and following article is taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' October 26, 1987. The special supplement was issued in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial. Beadle came from a military family. One of his brothers lost a leg in Viet Nam and the other had been a Marine for more than six years. His brother-in-law was a two-time Viet Nam veteran. Beadle "thought the world of the Marines," according to a relative, and left Roman Catholic High School to enlist in November 1966. The lance corporal, a rifleman, was assigned to Company M of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines. Beadle died in Quang Nam Province on June 2, 1968, of fragment wounds inflicted during a friendly air strike. He was 19 years old. A Note from The Virtual Wall From the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, Command Chronology for June 1968: 02 June 1968:      At 0700H, Company M suffered 8 USMC KIA's from friendly fire close air support. An investigation is in progress. Results were 8 USMC KIA and 5 USMC WIA. Although the Command Chronology twice states that eight men were killed, only seven deaths in the casualty database can be associated with the incident: LCpl Harry J.
