We were friends.

We were roommates in town at NAS Whidbey. He was like a brother to me. You're missed. You're not forgotten. You the man.

3 Mar 2005

We often talked about how music was a part of life and how it often showed us the way. I finally found a song that tells it from Pink FLoyd's Wish You Were Here album, song with the same title. Can't claim every word fits but you would've liked it. It speaks well of the times we talked and you showed an angry young man some things.

Did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for cool breeze
Cold cover for change
Did you exchange
Your walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage

My name is Barry Patrick Bidwell and I am Barry's nephew. I was named after Barry by my father, his brother Robert L Bidwell. Barry has always been a part of my life through stories and I've tried to live my life as well as I could to commemorate my namesake. We all loved him in the Bidwell family and I will always appreciate what he meant to our family. I can only hope to meet him one day in heaven.

From his nephew,
Barry P Bidwell

I remember Barry well. We worked on the flight line while with VAH-123 at NAS Whidbey Island. His sense of humor made us all laugh. He is greatly missed.

Barry was a wonderful mentor to me while serving in VAH-123 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. We had long talks and great laughs as well as several "great adventures" from going to a rock festival in Tenino WA to hitching to Blaine WA and back. There were some great times my friend, oh I wish you were here to share them again.

Tears still come to my eyes when I think of you and the great friendship we shared. Thank you for being there for me when I need it most. You are a true brother and friend.

From a Navy Brother and friend,
Terry Salgy
