Juan was from O'Donnell, Texas, a small town north of Lamesa, Texas, in northern Dawson County. The community is also known as the home of Dan Blocker who played "Hoss" on the T.V. series "Bonanza". Juan attended schools in O'Donnell, Class of 65. He joined the Marine Corps out of high school. He was killed by a booby trap on July 14, 1967. He is remembered by his community and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Midland, Texas. May his sacrifice not be forgotten.
