AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL FOR HEROISM

1. TC 320. The following AWARD is announced.

BRADLEY, Glenn  51590481  PRIVATE FIRST CLASS  UNITED STATES ARMY   Headquarters & Headquarters Troop, 1st Battalion (Airmobile), 9th Cavalry

Awarded: Bronze Star Medal with "V" device
Into Action: 16 August 1969
Theater: Republic of Vietnam
Reason: For heroism, not involving participation in aerial flight,
in connection with military operations against a hostile force
in the Republic of Vietnam. Private First Class Bradley
distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on
16 August 1969, while serving as a rifleman with Head-
quarters & Headquarters Troop,1st Battalion (Airmobile),
9th Cavalry during a search and clear mission near Quang
Loi, Republic of Vietnam. As Private First Class Bradley's
team entered a large clearing, they were immediately
engaged by intense automatic weapons fire from an enemy
bunker complex. With complete disregard for his own safety,
Private First Class Bradley crawled forward to place
suppressive fire upon the hostile positions. While on this
self-appointed mission, he was met with a volley of hand
grenades, which inflicted fragmentation wounds upon him.
Despite the pain of these wounds, Private First Class
Bradley refused to withdraw and continued firing until the
enemy broke contact. His display of personal bravery and
devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions
of the military service, and reflects great credit upon
himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

   of Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962
