We miss you, Dickie.

We grew up in the same small copper mining town, Silver Bell, Arizona. In a town as small as Silver Bell, neighbors all grieved at our losses during the Vietnam War. Our town is grateful to the men who served and we remember those that died with honor on the battlefield a long way from our home. May we truly never forget the sacrifices that families within our town gave for our freedom. God Bless America.

Dickie was a good friend of mine in Vietnam. We both served with Bravo Company, 3/506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. He was in first platoon and I was in second platoon. Dickie had a great smile and great personality. During our watch at night, I would speak to Dickie on the radio. We usually spoke Spanish for the sake of security. He was a fine soldier who pulled his own weight, never complaining. The day our platoon learned he had been hit, we were all at a loss.

God Bless You, Dickie!

Chicano #2 was the nickname we had for Richard, it was given to him by Chicano #1. I saw Richard praying one night using his fingers to count his Hail Marys. My Grandmother sent me a Rosary that was blessed by the Pope, I gave that Rosary to Richard and he used it often. I know you are with God!
