A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 09 May 1972 a Cobra gunship, AH-1G tail number 68-15053, was shot down along Route 512 near Ben Het airfield. Although the copilot's body was recovered from the wreckage, the pilot, Captain William S. Reeder, had simply disappeared. Nothing was known of his whereabouts until March 1973, when he was released by the North Vietnamese.
