In remembrance of David Cleveland who gave the ultimate sacrifice 5/8/67. Another year has gone by, now at 41 years ago today. I remember it like it was yesterday. You are not forgotten.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

At 0245 on the morning of 08 May 1967 the Marine position at Con Thien (Hill 158) was hit by a heavy artillery and mortar barrage followed by a ground attack. The North Vietnamese penetrated a portion of the perimeter and were not ejected until several hours later - indeed, NVA stragglers within the perimeter were still being hunted down and killed as late as mid-morning. The attack resulted in 44 deaths among the Marines and sailors at Con Thien, including two men from the 4th Platoon, B Co, 1st AMTRACs - Cpl David L. Cleveland and Pfc Larry M. Langan of Columbus, Nebraska..
