A Note from The Virtual Wall On 18 June 1969 the pilot of a UH-1H Huey from the 282nd AHC was hit in the head by ground fire while departing a landing zone. The aircraft rolled inverted and crashed, resulting in the loss of four men: WO Gary C. Salanitro, Huntington Station, NY, pilot CPT George D. Carr, Corpus Christi, TX, copilot SP5 Jose M. De La Torre, Fullerton, CA, crew chief SP4 George R. Browning, East Bernstadt, KY, gunner
