Jerry was originally assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines at Camp San Mateo (Camp Pendleton) in California. Jerry was in machine guns and was always the most quiet of all of us in the squad bay. We all left Camp Pendleton on the USNS BRECKENRIDGE and went to Camp Hansen in Okinawa. We sailed for Da Nang on June 17, 1965 and took up positions around the air base at Da Nang. I stayed with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines.

I lost track of Jerry, as Marines were rotated from unit to unit. I was transferred to Alpha 1/1 in October 1965. I learned that Jerry had been killed in action when I returned to the states in 1966. He was killed on 6 February, 1966. I know that he was from Boise, Idaho and that he is on panel East 5 line 5 near the top of the Memorial.

Jerry, you are missed and my family and I honor your life every day.
Semper Fi, my Brother
