Blaine M. Ferguson was my dad. He married my mother when I was 2 years old and accepted me as his daughter from that moment on. We were stationed in Fort Ord, California from November 1962 until December 1966. He shipped to Vietnam in December 1966 and was killed in action January of 1967.

I remember him as a teddy bear of a man who dealt with my fear of the boogie man by telling me to invite him in for a beer. My favorite picture of him is the one in which he is wearing my pink plastic trash can on his head.

I am saddened to say that I lost him when I was only 6 years old ... but I like to think he has been watching over me all these years from heaven. It was his GI Bill that sent me to college. Thank you, Blaine, for having played a part in who I am today.

The point-of-contact for this memorial is
his daughter.
