The database page for John Swain Gordon
John, known to all of us as "Doc", was our Company Medic. You would never see him without a smile on his face. While dressing our wounds, he would find a way to make you smile and to try to make you forget the pain you were in. Whenever we would stop to take a break, he would always be checking everyone to make sure we were O.K. On 15 Nov 67 "Doc" was killed. Caught in an ambush, the wounded were crying out for help. With no regard for his own safety, "Doc" went to the aid of those wounded. He died on that day doing what he always did, whether it be handing out salt tablets or stopping a man from bleeding to death, caring for those of us. This memorial to John S. "Doc" Gordon is placed by all of those in Company C, 2/27th Wolfhound, 25th Inf. Div.'67 who had the honor to have served with "Doc". HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. |
