The database page for David Dee Gummere
One year at HQMC I reviewed my case files. A report of a battle death was filed in my case ... it was my cousin's. We were both Sergeants, but he was in 5th Marines and I served in 9th Marines. It was quite a shock.
Sergeant David Gummere, 1937590/0311 USMC, age 23 and married, was mortally wounded in the neck by multiple fragmentation projectiles in Thua Thien Province, Republic of South Vietnam on Friday, 29 April 1966. His name is listed on "The Wall" in Washington, DC, Panel 07E-Row 009. I would very much like to contact anyone who served with him.
