The Office of Information, Military Assistance Command (MACV), Vietnam press releases report for March 1969, page 30, had a 9 March 1969 entry: "TOAN THANG (BIEN HOA PROVINCE) - At approx 0330 hours, an element of the U. S. 1st Infantry Division engaged an unknown size enemy force while sweeping an area 4 miles East of Nha Bei. Heavy small arms and automatic weapons fire exchanged and the enemy also employed rocket propelled grenade fire. Enemy losses were unknown and U.S. casualties were 9 killed and 11 wounded. Killed in that battle were: SP4 Larry D. Carroll, Hartsfield, Georgia SGT Bobby Dean Clark, Bexar, Alabama Kenneth George Clarke, Jr, Richmond, Virginia PFC Richard T. Forester, Pasco, Washington SP4 Juan E. Garcia-Diaz, Corozal, Puerto Rico SGT Johnny Paul Grissom, Little Rock, Arkansas PFC Joseph E. Nohe, Baltimore, Maryland SGT Aaron C. Smith, Baton Rouge, Louisiana SGT James H. Wall Cullowhee, North Caroline Johnny Paul Grissom was survived by his wife, Ola Diane (Pope) Grissom, mother Annie Lee Grissom (Bradley) Grissom Swafford (1917-2012), father Johnny Lorenzo Grissom (1911-1978), and siblings Joan Trantham Smith (Living), Michael Grissom (Living), Sammy Grissom (Living), Orvil Lee Grissom (1932-1933), Carl Dean Grissom (1933-2007), Eldon Brewer Grissom (1937-1993), Jimmy Ray Grissom (1941-2021), and Larry Don Grissom (1953-1991).
