A Note from The Virtual WallSP4 Edward Handy is the only aviation-related casualty in Thua Thien Province on 20 Feb 1969. What happened to him?One UH-1H Huey (tail number 67-17466) from the from Company B, 101st Aviation Battalion is known to have been destroyed in Thua Thien that day, in the mountains southwest of Hue. SP4 Handy's Army casualty record is noted with "mine" as the supplementary cause of death. One might guess that Bravo 2/327 was making an air assault into those mountains, and 67-17466 was unlucky enough to land on a mine (it wasn't uncommon for the NVA/VC to mine likely landing areas). But that would be only a guess... |
