Gary Hanna, a kind, intelligent, loving young man, began his tour on Nov. 12, 1967. He was killed ten weeks later when the helicopter he was piloting was shot down north of Hue during Tet in 1968.

Very little is known about the loss of UH-1B tail number 63-12915, a gunship from B Troop 1/9 Cav, except that two men were killed in the incident: the pilot, WO Gary W. Hanna, and the crew chief, SP4 Richard F. Delgado of Fresno, California.
