I know little about my uncle. I do know that he was the oldest of ten children, five boys and five girls. I also know that even to this day he is loved and missed deeply. I have always wished I would have had the opportunity to know him myself, because I know he was a great man, loving brother, and cherished son.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

An entry in the 1st Bn, 26th Marines' operations log says that 3rd Plt, Alpha Company received small arms and mortar fire while on patrol in the vicinity of Hill 881 South, about 9 kilometers north-northwest of the Khe Sanh airfield, killing two men and wounding five others. The two men killed were LCpl Roger M. Hurd of Cambridge, MA, and Pfc Thomas E. Hendershott.
