Eddie came from a big family. He had a twin, Jimmy. He was raised in a country community of Flower Grove in Howard County, Texas near Big Spring, Texas. He attended Big Spring High School when his family moved into town. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and started his tour in Vietnam in July 1966. He was killed by small arms fire December 17, 1966 from a sniper. Eddie and I share relatives by marriage. One of his deceased uncles, Bill Hollandsworth was married to my father-in-law's sister. I had heard about Eddie through my in-laws. Eddie is remembered by the Howard County, Texas Vietnam Memorial and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran's Memorial located at Midland, Texas. |
