Mike Hope was my friend, we pushed troops together at Fort Polk as Acting Sergeants, waiting to go to OCS. Ended up in Flight School together. Mike got a great VIP flying job in Vietnam but quickly volunteered to fly combat missions in an O-1 Birddog. He kept extending his tour, one time too many. A real hero (usually a grossly overused term) and a really great guy, I think of him often.
