Phillip left behind a six month old daughter named Stephanie. She is now grown and has had three children. Her last child, Kody lee Gibson, was hit by a car and killed March 31, 2003, he was 11 years old... Phillip would have been a Grandpa and a Great-Grandpa had he lived. One of his Grandchildren is married and has a daughter.

I have heard from one of Phillip's friends who was there when he was killed, he told me that Phillip was a radio operator and that he hadn't been with his unit very long. Phillip was killed along with his other friend Michael Ivory by the same enemy 152mm artillery round. Gregory writes,

"The NVA fired numerous rounds into our firebase that day followed by a ground attack. We held the wire, drove them out into the jungle and eventually they gave up trying to overrun the base. For me it was the worst day of two tours in Viet Nam."

Thank you for places like this, to help keep Phillip's memory alve.

From a childhood friend,
