Albert S Knight is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, panel 02E line 16.

My high school classmate, Bert Knight, died 10 days short of his 21st birthday, in Quang Nam. While never "close" in school, I think of him, his sacrifice, and his family, often.

In a way, a part of him lives on in me, and affects my view of myself, and my world. I thank God and my "stars" (not really knowing which is in control of these things) for the many blessings in my life.

And, I thank Bert and all who sacrifice for attempting to improve the lives of all humanity. Bert is a symbol to me of the fragility of life and the importance of goodness in living.

It is amazing to me, but my life is being lived better because of him.
