Jerry, It's been 39 years since your death and I just realized you are not listed on The Virtual Wall. Such a shame. I'm a former Marine who grew up just a few miles from you, yet we never met. I was also in Vietnam, but circumstances allowed me to come back home alive. I was back home when you were killed. My family and I have visited your grave many times over the years. Each time I do so I think how it could just as easily have been me instead of you. I think of all the events in life that you have missed out on that I have been able to enjoy. Please know that your sacrifice is not forgotten. Those who didn't serve will never know the depth of the memories and feelings obtained from the experience. May your soul be at peace.

A Note from The Virtual WallIn the latter part of Operation MEADE RIVER the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines formed a cordon line on the north side of Route 4 west of Dien Ban. As the cordon was closed, compressing the area held by the enemy, the fighting became fiercer. On 04 Dec 1968 India 3/26 engaged an enemy force entrenched in a tree line, losing four Marines and one Corpsman:
