We were great friends, ate together, cried together, cussed, scared, but mostly loved each other.

I was only 50 feet from him when he was killed, could not get to him to help. We could not get a chopper as is it was night and we were under attack. We all were very upset over his death.

Many others lost their lives that night. His death was special because of our friendship...

He lost his life responding to the attack, as he was stepping from his bunker a 60mm mortar shell landed at his feet ... I still cry to this date, having reached 62 years of age.

God Bless Alan.

The Lane family may contact me if you so choose.
