I knew David from childhood ... he was wonderful, caring, loving and had a love for life. He loved horses and he and I rode all the time ... the best time was when we rode together and I could hold on to him. He was my great love! We wrote all the time when he was in Vietnam and we were talking about making our relationship more permanent when he got home. That never happened ... he has a wonderful sister that was my friend and a loving set of parents. I will always love you David, you were my first love. I know you are with the angels and looking down on all of us. I even bet you are on a beautiful white horse riding through the heavens. Love, Linda

I did not know David but he was good friends with one of my best friends and they were killed together when Johnny tried to rescue David on 21 June 1968. His being friends with Johnny means my friend had someone with him and he did not die alone. I wish the best to those who love David and I wish with all my heart that you could have met Johnny. David had a good friend in Johnny.
