Army Captain Christopher J. Miller, Jr. 34, was killed in Vietnam less than two months after he arrived there.

He had also served in Korea from 1956-57.

Captain Miller's first son was born less than three weeks before he left for Vietnam. He was also survived by two daughters and his wife, Margaret Stewart Miller.

He graduated from Westminster High School, where he had been a member of the Honor Society. For his outstanding scholarship and leadership ability, he was chosen to attend Bullis Preparatory Academy -- the preparatory school for the service academies. After graduation from Bullis, Miller was nominated to West Point Military Academy. He graduated from the academy in 1955 with the rank of Second Lieutenant.

After graduation, he was stationed in Fort Benning, Ga. and then spent 18 months in Korea where he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He then served in Colorado where he achieved the rank of captain.

Prior to going to Vietnam, his last two years were spent in Fort Benning and Alaska.
