JUST A YOUNG KID

A classmate,
A friend.
Just a young kid,
Sent off to Nam,
No time to have lived.
Just a GRUNT
Was what he was called.
Tay Ninh is where he was sent,
And there he did fall.
Hostile, gun,
Small arms fire.
Ground casualty,
KIA,
Did he die right away?
Hope he didn't suffer,
I hope it was quick.
His life was so short,
But his memory will stick.
Just a young kid,
Who went off to war,
Who gave his life.
Do we ask.........
WHAT FOR?
