I loved you dearly and I love you still. The image of your face has faded but not the childhood memories of fun filled summer days. I still remember the day you came riding up on your motorcycle to tell me you were being shipped out to Viet Nam, my heart broke. I did not want you to go, but you said you must. My heart still breaks each time I think about you, about a life cut so short. But you spent your life for freedom and for that I have no regret.

The flag on my front porch flies for freedom and it flies for you, dear cousin.
