On May 9, 1968 Robert Neil Minetto gallantly gave his life in the service of our country while participating in operations with Third Tank Battalion, Third Marine Division, in support of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, south of Gia Lihn in the notorious area known as "Leatherneck Square" in the Republic of Vietnam.

Today is Nov 9, 2002, the day before the 227th Marine birthday and I just found out that Bob had been killed in Viet Nam. I went to high school with Bob in Reno, Nevada.

May God bless his family.

Bob was a good friend of mine while we served together in Charlie Company, 5th Tanks at Camp Pendleton and with Alfa Company, 3rd Tanks in Vietnam. His death hit me like a ton of bricks. I have not recovered yet.

Rest in peace, brave Marine and brother. I will see you in heaven when it's my turn to visit the Big Tank Park in the Sky.
