Robert Nelson was killed in action during the TET offensive in the Battle of Hue RVN Feb 13 1968. I joined the USMC with him on the Buddy plan... sorry to say I talked him into joining with me. When he was killed I was hospitalized at Chelsea Naval Hospital as I had been medevaced back to the US with wounds. I served in his military funeral and handed the flag to his mother, the most difficult thing I ever did. I say a prayer for him often, he has many friends who still remember him ... his nickname was "Nellie".
