I want family and friends to know the type of man Tim was, especially his treatment to animals. I knew Tim when I arrived in Viet Nam in March 1970. He was in my platoon (1st Bn of the 502nd Inf) and months later decided to leave our company to become a dog handler. Sometimes we would see Tim on occasion with his German Shepherd. He was really glad to have this new assignment and talked about his experience with his dog. I remember one time when he and his dog were with us and his dog got really hot and tired. What happened next took me by surprise. Unlike other dog handlers that would keep their dogs going until they dropped, Tim picked up his dog and carried him around his shoulders. Tim said that the dog would still react if anything alerted him. He really loved that dog and treated him fairly. It was unfortunate to hear one night over the radio that Tim was killed. Thanks, Tim, for being an example of a caring human being toward God's creatures. Gregg Webb |
