REMEMBERED |
SSgt. Don O'Shell was the Platoon Sergeant for "D" Co. 3rd Platoon. He loved the Marine Corps and hoped to become a Warrant Officer. He was a brave man and led his men as well as he could. He encouraged all his men and he encouraged me to become an officer and recomended me for an appointment to OCS. I lost that appointment in the Marines due to wounds but went on to become a Warrant Officer helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. In no small part, I was able to become an Officer thanks to SSgt. Don O'Shell, and remembered him when I was awarded my bars and wings. I was with SSgt. O'Shell when he was mortally wounded at Con Thien.
