Paul had a choice assignment with the US Army Recuiting Service, Omaha, NE., when he applied for and completed OCS. He was assigned to a Platoon in the Mekong Delta and within a couple of weeks he was gone. A combined honor guard of all the Military Recruiting Services in Omaha attended his funeral and Interment in the "Field of Glory," at the Atlantic, Iowa, cemetery. To this day, 34 years later, I can still see Paul Sr's face as he accepted the folded flag and I can still hear those words, "On behalf of a grateful nation ... " Paul was and remains a true American hero, one who made a choice to do what he felt was right. We who served with him will remember him, along with all of the others with whom we fought alongside in that war. From a dear friend, Gordon D.
