Wilbur (Smitty) was a charismatic leader of the 1st Section in the Recon Platoon.
He came from a long line of family members who served in the military.
Fastidious with his uniform, he had the air of a long-time military man.
Smitty had a college education majoring in history.
He was especially proud of his daughter who was born while he was serving.

Smitty was killed along with other members of the platoon while charging an enemy position. They were cut down by RPG rounds and small arms fire. His presence is missed, he is in our thoughts.
