It's been a long time my friend, but I'll never forget the good times we had before we all joined the Marine Corps and we lost you.

From a friend and fellow Marine,

This is Platoon 389, Third Recruit Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, S.C. Steve is in the third row, second from right. We were graduated on 2 June 1966. Our Drill Instructors from left to right - SSgt J. L. Mallina, Sgt L. R. Driver, SSgt T. L. Ward, and Sgt W. G. Harriman. The guy to Steve's left was at that time his best friend and brother-in-law, Darrell Page. Darrell was right behind Steve when Steve was killed and Darrell was critically wounded. How Darrell lived with all of his injuries is beyond me.
