A friend and brother who died at Polei Duc.The men who died that day in the Battle at Polei Duc will be remembered by those who didn't until we eventually rejoin them.

Cal was my partner. We were to be married. He was an exceptional person, a genius and a respectful, kind man. He was a writer, a visionary, who went by the pen name of C. Eliot. He was a pacifist, so in the army he became a chaplain and a Medic. He achieved greater personal development and valor during the war than most people achieve in a lifetime. Anyone who knew him and would like to honor him together, please contact me.

A Note from The Virtual WallJohn Nelson, who served with Alpha 1/8 Infantry at Polei Duc, sponsored memorials to the men he served with that day. Early in 2002, John Nelson rejoined his comrades in arms. The Virtual Wall takes pride in completing John's work by adding two men inadvertently left off the original memorial - medics Calvin Schwartz and Robert Jenkins.
Medics on the Wall memorial which honors the Army Medics and Navy Corpsmen who died in Vietnam. |
