Note:
Corporal Smith's mortuary record indicates he was assigned to C Company, 1/327 Infantry. In his memorial request, Mr. Hughes indicated C Company, 2/502nd Infantry. The Virtual Wall has done two things: temporarily accepted the mortuary record and submitted a request to the National Archives for a service record extract. On receipt of the extract the memorial (and our database) will be corrected if necessary.
