When Claude Tyler left us I was only a kid. He was my oldest cousin and was married to Betty. Betty was carrying their son when he was killed in a chopper crash. This is the stuff movies are made of, only Tyler wasn't a movie star. Tyler was a regular guy who thought serving his country was an honorable way to make a living. Tyler was going to be a "lifer".

His brother is a Vietnam Vet too. Most all of us cousins served in one branch or another. Kind of a tradition with the Turner family. I'm sure we all thought of Tyler and his sacrifice and wanted to honor that sacrifice with our own service. He's missed by us all and we would have liked to have grown up with him. We'll see him again, Lord willing.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Six men from the 133rd ASHC were killed when CH-47A tail number 63-07913 suffered a transmission failure and crashed five miles north of Phu Cat on 29 Jan 1966:
