Terry Lee Thornton entered the service the same time as my brother-in-law, Terry Bittner. Terry Bittner made it home.

Terry Bittner went to visit the memorial in Washington, DC, last year. Terry Lee Thornton is remembered.

A memorial from one who remembers,

Veterans' Day 2003

I did not know you.
Yet as I teach the kids from your hometown,
I realize that you gave your life for them and me.
We owe it to you to keep your memory alive
so that the generations that pass through the halls of this school
will never forget the ultimate sacrifice you gave
in preserving freedom around the world.
Thank you.

Dear Mr. Thornton, I would like to take some time and thank you for fighting for all the generations to come. You gave your life for those of us to come. You will always be a hero to me. It really does open the eyes of young people. You came from a small town close to mine and as we both know small towns do not always experience the hurt and pain that can go on in war. It not only opens our eyes but the eyes of the community and towns surrounding. Thank you again for everything that you did for us. You will always be remembered.

Rest In Peace,
