The database page for Ronald David Whitlow
Ronnie Whitlow graduated from Sandia High School, Albuquerque, NM in 1966. I remember him as handsome, out-going and well liked. He belonged to the Ski club. As a member and treasurer of a service club, Key Club, he helped the La Jolla Boys home by collecting toys and clothing for their Christmas and other community projects. So it is not surprising that he became a medic in the Navy. When the sad news came that he had been killed in Vietnam, I thought of the words to the Billy Joel song, "Only the good die young." You are remembered, Ronnie.

I loved you and always will.
~Yours truly~ |
I was one of the last Corpsmen in the Battalion Aid Station to see Ron before he left for the Battalion which was up around Khe Sanh. I went on to the ship after being in the bush with the Battalion for 9 months. I was working in ICU when word came that Ron was killed. We had spent many long hours playing cards with Ron and he tried to teach me some magic tricks. Ironic that I would be graduating from UNM and practicing in Albuquerque (raised in Kansas) in the 70's.
