and loved him here at home in Vero Beach, Florida.


 

A Note from The Virtual Wall

At the end of March 1968 the 1st Cavalry Division, 3rd ARVN Airborne Task Force, and elements of the 1st and 3rd Marines were staging at Ca Lu, Quang Tri Province, in preparation for OPERATION PEGASUS, the relief of the combat base at Khe Sanh. As a diversionary measure, the 2nd Battalion, 1st ARVN Regiment and supporting US forces conducted a sweep of the coastal plain, moving north from Kong Ha toward the DMZ. This force was termed Task Force Kilo.

Task Force Kilo began the sweep on 30 March 1968. In the course of the advance C Troop, 3/5th Cav, encountered entrenched NVA troops. Ten Americans were killed in the fighting, but so too were 150 North Vietnamese soldiers.
