A Note from The Virtual Wall

A C-123B (tail number 56-4385) from the 310th Troop Carrier Squadron was shot down just south of Saigon while dropping flares to illuminate the area around a village under attack by VC. Four men were killed in the incident:
  • Capt Gordon R. Brown, Oklahoma City, OK;
  • Capt Woodrow M. Fitzgerald, Staunton, VA;
  • SSgt Charles B. Lankford, Collinsville, IL; and
  • SSgt Walter K. Morris, Paris, KY.
