Rich, it's been over 30 years now but you're still with the brothers who served with you in Dong Tam. We still manage to bring up your name in our conversations. Your passing has left an indelable mark on our souls and in our minds. We may never overcome the tragedy of that night as it effects our daily lives to this day. Until we meet again, we'll just keep marching on.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 19 May 1969 two men from HQS & A Co, 709th Maint Bn, were killed in a mortar attack on the 9th Infantry Division's base camp at Dong Tam - SP5 Charles D. Buchanan from Wise, Virginia, and SP4 Richard Carbone.
