Dear Uncle Willie,

Although I was only nine years old when you were killed, I do remember you and the sadness your death brought to our family. Grandpa never recovered, but you are together now. Mommy and Aunt Myra still cannot speak of you without crying. You were and still are special!

I often think that you were only 22 years old and my own children are older than that now. You would have liked them! In fact, one looks a bit like you.

My tribute is not about the medals you won or the uniform you wore so proudly for the Marines, but to say that we think of you often and wonder ...

WHAT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN LIKE?

Love,
Kathy
