Felix Dennis Ridge was born in Lamesa, the son of Thomas and Virgie Pope Ridge. He attended Lamesa schools and graduated in 1967. He enlisted in the Army in November 1967 and completed his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He then completed training as a water treatment specialist at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

He began his tour in Vietnam on June 8, 1968. He was assigned to the 606th Engineering Detachment (Independent), United States Army Vietnam (USARV). He drowned on December 8, 1968 in Phu Yen Province, one month short of his 21st birthday.

PFC Ridge was buried with full military honors in Lamesa, Texas. He is remembered by his community and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Midlands, Texas.
