Chuck,

After all these years you are not forgotten. Your tour was almost over and your life was ended by a bullet that could have hit any one of us. I remember how we tried to keep each other awake on those long nights guarding the VC POWs, the fun we had off duty at the beach and the patrols in Phan Thiet. Rest in peace, Chuck. We'll see you again some day and we'll uncork a cold one together.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 25 Feb 1968 Landing Zone Betty was attacked. The ARVN ammunition dump was hit by enemy mortar fire and blew up, causing significant damage to the airfield and facilities. SP4 Charles Edward Robena, a member of the 272nd Military Police Detachment on LZ Betty, was struck and killed by a stray enemy bullet from a nearby firefight along the camp perimeter.
