"John Sibilly was a true gentleman. Soft spoken, thoughtful, just a wonderful friend to have. In early '67 we were standing security on Highway 9 between Dong Ha and Khe Sanh. My memory is horrible, so details escape me. We were on bridge security for a short time. John and I shared many pleasant hours during the long days and nights. We had lost Mike Baronowski shortly before that, and I was a little reluctant to make new friends. But John was persistent. I recognized the gentleman in him, and I came to love him like a brother, as I had Mike.

"Unlike the brutal shot that killed Mike, John was wounded, went into shock and died. So while I miss Mike desperately, forgive me if I say that I find myself "angry" with John. He didn't have to die ... and there are times when that hurts more than all the others..."
