Army Spec. 4 Stanley D. Wilenski of Hicksville was killed in action in South Vietnam when his plane crashed and burned after being hit by enemy fire, the Defense Department reported yesterday.

Wilenski was serving as crew chief on a mission over Pleiku province in the Central Highlands, about 200 miles north of Saigon, when the plane was hit. A Defense Department spokesman said that Wilenski died April 19. According to the spokesman, Wilenski was 25 and had started his tour of duty in Vietnam on Sept. 12, 1969. He was identified as a member of the 119th Aviation Company, 528th Aviation Battalion of the First Aviation Brigade. Wilenski, the Defense Department said, was the son of Mrs. Winifred B. Wilenski of 207 Ninth St., Hicksville.

For David,
I only met you once when I was a child, and I have such a vivid memory of you, how tall you were and how you had to duck your head to get through doorways. You seemed like a sweet person. You definitely died too young. Your mother, my Aunt Wynne, missed you terribly. May you be at Peace.

With Love,
Robyn

My Dearest Dave, 36 years have gone and I still think of you.

Life went on for me, of course, but I can't help but think what life would have been like for us.

Would we have fulfilled our hopes and dreams? I truly think we would have.

My love always, Sam
