04 Apr 2007 My fondest memory of Richard is a visit to his Dad's farm just before he left for Vietnam. A few of us drove over to wish him well and he was very sweet about it. He didn't seem worried and we were proud of him. Years later I retrieved his name off of the Memorial Wall and I wanted to give it to his parents because I didn't think that they would get a chance to go to Washington but I never did. I'll remember him on his birthday tomorrow and always. God Bless him and his family and the America that he died for. I know he wouldn't recognize it today. A Note from The Virtual Wall Two men of B Troop, 1/9 Cav, died when their UH-1C Huey (tail number 66-15055) was shot down in the A Shau Valley. Three injured crewmen were picked up, but circumstances precluded immediate recovery of the two dead. They were WO1 James Warren Arvidson, who was flying his first mission as pilot-in-command, and SP5 Richard Irving Bornheimer, crew chief.
