The official entry on his casualty report shows: "Individual died from metal fragment wound received while in command post when hit by fragments from hostile mortar round. He was hospitialized at the 12th Evacuation Hospital and placed on the Very Seriously Ill list on 29 April and later expired."

The record does not show any others died from that mortar round. More of his story below.


SGT Arthur Lee 'Buddy' Jordan was survived by his mother, father Huldon P Jordan (1914-1971), sister Frances Maybell (Jordan) Sizemore (1936-1999), and brother William Bailey Jordan (1959-1976). He is buried in Graceland West Cemetery and Mausoleum, Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina.
